Our volunteers
can select and reserve their shifts via internet and are asked to work 36
hours per month. Available shifts are 12 or 24 hours. Uniforms and
training are provided. Six Forks EMS currently compensates volunteer
EMT-2nd riders $25 per 12 hr shift to help defer meal costs and other
expenses.
As a new
volunteer, you begin by working with the existing ambulance crew as a
third rider. During this time you will completes several
comprehensive phases of training. Pending final SFEMS supervisor
approval and possessing current NC EMT-B or (higher) certification you
will graduate to EMT- 2nd rider status. Our 3rd Rider program takes 1 -
6 months to complete depending on prior experience and your time
availability.
